Imperium Nocturna

How does one deal with writer’s block, or another issue I like to call idea overload?

The more I write on this story the more I try to correct things I did before. I’m also trying to figure out what to do when it’s done. If I even have a chance of getting a real publishing deal or if I’ll have to do it myself. I really feel this will end up being on my own head when it comes to that so I’ll put out the question to the public.

In this new age of on demand publishing and self publishing what should a man like myself do?

I’ve finally added real content to the site, or at least a bit more. No new chapters, but a new little glimpse into the history of the Imperium, and a look into the Vampire mind.

Hello everyone, I am going to be editing and cleaning up some of LD’s posts.  I will be working on here as well as on dhampirdreams.  I hope to get started later today, and I’ll have more time on the weekends.  We’ll see how it goes.

Once again working on new content for the webpage. Work on the main story continues with bits and pieces as I go along. Also working on fleshing out the Menagrie as well as Imperium history. I’ll be producing a timeline here in a few days in order to put a lot of this into perspective. Hopefully this will assist many with keeping up and assist me with getting my mind in order during production of this story.

Right now I’m working on An Apprasial of Vampires for the Menagerie. Here’s an excerpt.

The tales of the Undead have taken hold of every culture on Earth since time immemorial. Stories of the dead returning from he graves to feed on the living. For centuries these stories have given humanity reason to fear the night and that which would claim their very souls. As time passed these stories were religated to the realm of superstition and ignorance of less enlightened people. Little did modern man know how close to the truth his less enlightened brethren were.

Slow but steady but I am still working on this book as time allows. I’m no professional so I’m just gonna try to do as much as I can to make this a damned good book. I may actually ask a few folk I know to help out with some other ideas as well when I get more then just a prologue up. Anyone with any ideas are welcome to comment and help out.

I grabbed a copy of the Transformers movie today (my last treat to myself for a LONG while) and picked up the 2 disc set. I watched the second disc, and had to wonder about the story world I’m building with Imperium.

I’ve always had the idea of Imperium in the vein of a big budget motion picture. I see the scenes I want to write for that story as scenes in a major action film. There are going to be scenes that span major amounts of distance, to include the air ships for the major players like the Methuselah Class Imperium ships, the Saladin Class arabian vessels on the scale of things, the the vast battles like the Assault on Terahn and the Battle of London. Not to mention the number of things that go on in between.

Major things like that. We’re talking things that in a movie would be MAJOR Scenes and on set type things. The sort of thing you might have to make a good trilogy of JUST to have a SHOT of doing it right.

I got to thinking of who would be a good director for such a thing, and fact is it would probably have to be Micheal Bay. He’s done some spectacular action films, and REALLY did well on Transformers. I couldn’t think of anyone, except maybe Peter Jackson, as being capable of doing this.

That leads me to my question. If you were to choose a director to make a movie version of your vision, who would it be?

I’m working on trying to kick start Imperium up a bit more. Still writing chapter 1, still not quiet happy with it. I’ll be working on it for a while I bet. At this time though I’m trying to build up what will be the imperium communiy, if one will exist. To that end I’ve gone and created a group on last.fm for the storyline folk. I’m also working on a few other things. Anyone interested can join. And if you have any capability as an artist then I beg you to help me with some graphics.

Over time I’ll add in some just quick scenes I thought of that have nothing really to do with the main story line but I thought were kind of funny so I figured I’d share.

Drake stepped into the garden and saw a beautiful woman enjoying the scent of the roses. Vlad was close to his side as he took in the sight. Immediatly however his calm gaze became a tense and annoyed look. The reason?
“Dude, you staring at her ass?” Vlad asked.
Mary was startled from her examination of one particular rose when she heard the vampire lord screaming in agony, “GODDAMNIT MY KIDNEYS!”
